Hello! I was on which situations I would use a solid line versus a separated line and which direction to shade.

You use solid line when there is 
sign, if you only have < , then you use the
broken line.
The easiest way is to substitute (0,0) for x and y - this gives you 0<3 which is true. This means that point (0,0) has to
be in the shaded part
