The problem
Hi I need help with the breakdown of the problem. How did they come up with the answer

Every single letter in your submission is being recognized as a variable. Your entry would appear to be an attempt at working with functional notation. If there is an expression defined by f(x) and another defined by g(x) then the two of them should be added together.
For example, g(x)=3x and f(x)=2x^2, then (f+g)(x)=2x^2 + 3x
To solve (f+g)(5) then replace 'x' with '5', so the second expression would then be 2(5^2)+3(5)
...whatever expressions you end up with, then multiply them together.
Start with the expressions and jettison the functional notation. Some functional notation is best handled through the desktop Algebrator.
