how did you get the lcd in step 1

The problem

You need to make sure that LCD contains all the factors in both denominators (always select ones with the highest power)

The highest power of 2 is 1 (6=2*3)

The highest power of 3 is 2 (9=3^2)

and finally the highest power of x is x^3

All these together give you the LCD
