how do I end up having 36

Answer provided by our tutors

The answer is 3096, or "3,096", or "three thousand and ninety-six".  The reference to 'having 36' is not understood.  The attached image shows the solution process, so values within the parentheses/brackets are resolved first and then a final multiplication becomes 6(4+512) which results in 6*516=3096.
