how do I write the following expression in the box to solve for h: A = 1/2r(hplusb), when I put in 1/2 in the box the rest of the expression will not stay in a straight line.

When typing in fractions you can either user the fraction template or by using the division symbol "/".
Always be aware of which part of the expression your cursor is in - the move the cursor away from the denominator just click on the right hand arrow and then go on typing the rest of the equation/expression.
