I am confused on how you are solving this problem --and not showing work like 6t-8+8=46+8 to show how you got to 6t=54?
also why are you showing the t=2. (3.3) exponent instead of just dividing it out one place you are showing more work and another you are not

At times, too many solution steps can create confusion... but other times, additional steps can clarify some solution. I changed from 'Medium steps' to 'a lot of steps' using the 'Options' tab and the following solution clarifies your question, as you can see that "+8" is added to both sides:
