Hi, regrets for any difficulties.  The tabs on the solver resolve specific needs.  The equation you provided was listed under the 'Factor' tab and no factoring would be possible when presented with an equation.  Instead, the same equation has been entered into the 'Solve' tab and the image of the solution is appended to this reply. 

It is worth suggesting that 'a few steps' is first used and then only increase the number of solution steps when the additional steps are actually helpful.  The tab for 'Options' should be reviewed. 

If your problem contains no equals sign and you wish to simply an expression then please select one of the tabs for 'Simplify', 'Expand' or 'Factor'. If your problem contains an equals sign then please select the tab for 'Solve' or 'Graph'.
