In examining your inquiry, the 'Solve' tab was used and the equation was entered correctly... 'x' was solved for 37/4. 

So if you needed a real number rather than a fraction, click on the 'Options' tab and select 'real numbers'.  Notice also that 'a few steps' can be the best first solution, then add additional steps as that additional information is helpful.  Finally, clicking on a particular step can be used to examine the provided logic.
