please explain why two distinct solutions have been created.How two solutions created? thanks

Any valued raised to an even-number can be interpreted as either two positive or two negative numbers.  For example, 4=x^2 can either be 2*2=4 or (-2)*(-2)=4.  Hence, a quadratic solution is solved by applying two possible solutions (applying "+/-" approach).
