Typically it is best to use the 'Options' tab and select 'a few steps' until the additional solution steps are helpful.  Clicking on a particular solution step allows you to review the logic which is employed. 

If an entry with mixed numbers is desired, then an entry "3 2/3" should be entered as "(3+2/3)", otherwise "3 2/3" will be accepted as 3 multiplied by 2/3.
