You should use the 'Options' tab and begin a solution with 'a few steps' and only increase the number of solution steps when the additional information is helpful.  The simplification you have provided does require a few steps in order to reduce the expression down to a very simple result... clicking on a particular solution step allows you to review the logic which is employed.
