why is the solution not simply 5/root6? why is it further broken down into 5 x root6 (numerator) over 6 (denominator)? Is it because you should never leave an answer with a denominator as square root?

Answer provided by our tutors

That is correct, we want to loose the roots from the denominatory in the solution. This is why we need to rationalize the denominator by multiplying the fraction by square root of "6", up and down (in the numerator and denominator).

The fraction is not being changed, since this is same as multiplying by "1"
