Why when I put in -5 squared the answer comes back as -25 should it not be 25

There is a differene between - 5^2 and (-5)^2.
-5^2 = - (5*5) = -25
wheres
(-5)^2 = (-5)*(-5) = 25 (any negative number to the power of 2 is positive)
